Always fascinated by children's books, two years later saw the publication of his first picture book Look out ! Here comes Jasper. Since then he's built up an impressive library of characters who've been the subject of his paper modelling and pop-up skills, including Paddington Bear, Fireman Sam, Rupert, Winnie-the-Pooh, Anne of Green Gables (on sale in the USA) and Thomas the Tank Engine. He's created activity books and 'occasions' books for Marks & Spencer; model books about Pingu and Noddy for the BBC (both of which he illustrated) and projects for Scholastic and Random House.

Dave Browning is one of a very rare breed known as paper engineers.
Born in London in 1954, Dave trained in book design and production, including bookbinding, in Oxford, England; but it was the birth of his first child in 1984 which inspired him to turn to pop-up design and illustration as a profession.
Dave says he's always been able to picture a flat image in three dimensions, and has enjoyed origami from when he was a child. Originally his ideas would come to light by means of sheets of paper, a pen and some crafty fingerwork. Nowadays, although he still uses paper and pen, he also finds a computer handy in order to turn the image in his mind into a form a publisher can work with.
Future plans include..... an amazing new range of 3-D boxed paper sculptures.
July '98 saw the launch of an innovative new range of books, Buggy Buddies, published by Campbell Books. With plenty of experience picking his youngest daughter's books up off the street, Dave came up with the idea of a book which would attach to the buggy, and so Buggy Buddies were conceived, thwarting all attempts by babies and small children to throw the book on the ground! Before Christmas the first set of 4 books were in the Top 10 Sellers list of hard back children's books, and has since sold over a million copies worldwide.
Current projects include Marvin Measures Up and Marvin Weighs In, published by Random House and Row Your Boat published by Dorling Kindersley.
In 1989, Dave moved to Cornwall, England, eager to trace his roots - his great-grandfather was born on the Isles of Scilly. He and his wife Ruth lived in the picturesque village of Mousehole for 10 years, before moving recently to the busy fishing port of Newlyn on the West Cornwall coast.
